Okay - Spencer was easy to find online - and I found a Shenandoah Co wills book (Gilreath) at a library an hour from me. so go through the book and find what I want - in the Frederick one of Spencer Leheu - the date = 16 Sep 1802/1 Feb 1803 - (p96-98) then take this info and either order the film, write to a Gen/Historical society, County Courthouse or the Library of VA with the info and ask for a copy. Did I get it right? Julie in CA --------------------------------- Bored stiff? Loosen up... Download and play hundreds of games for free on Yahoo! Games.

Thanks and keep my options coming! I'm pasting them into a Word document :) This time I'm looking for someone, William FETHERINGALE, who died before 1811, but I don't know where or when. First guess is Shenandoah County, ergo my question to you :). But for DAR, I'm going to have to get Spencer LEHEW's will, and I know he died around 22 Nov 1802. in Front Royal - not sure what county it was at that time, but I'm sure your suggestions will still work, just different location. thanks for all of the help Julie in CA --------------------------------- Never miss an email again! Hello, this is kind of a trip report. A few weeks ago, someone posted a new site Immigrant Servants Database, http://www.immigrantservants.com/, and it was nicely done. I actually paid for 2 people, just the $25 version lookup. The gentleman was really nice and easy to work with. I am looking for Lehews. We know a lot about Nicholas but this book Records of Indentured Servants and of Certificates for Land Northumberland County , VA 1650-1795" by Preston Haynie which I own, lol it had a Peter Lehoot relative? Brother? Hey for $25 Ill see what they can find out and not spend too much energy on it. I got the results within a few days and it included the 1M file of the page that his name was on. Here is what they came up with. Lehoot Peter Virginia 1662 1671 View http://immigrantservants.com/servant/show/681 I like that they put it up for everyone else to see! And I like that they put my hotmail address on the bottom so maybe someone else has more info Then I paid for Nicholas whom we have quite a bit of info on and got the 1M file also. He also went out and found Ron Wartas website (family researcher, updating the 1967 book) and did a cut and paste on that Here is what it looks like - LeHugh Nicholas Virginia 1656 1670 View http://immigrantservants.com/servant/show/649 - I kinda didnt like that he did that I was just looking for data and Id already talked to Ron, and Ron let me know that he was bugging him a little. On the otherhand, He put Rons website with Nicholas so anyone looking for Lehew info can contact him and maybe some lines will be filled in. I then sent him 2 entries from the Preston Haynie book where Nicholas was the Master and he added that. So overall, yes, Id do it again Julie in CA --------------------------------- Everyone is raving about the all-new Yahoo! Mail beta.
You can go the Shenandoah Co. Courthouse and look at the original books. But if you want copies, you have to order them from the Library of Virginia (which is the state archives) in Richmond. Of course, you have to know the page numbers, etc., to order them from Richmond, so you have to go to Shen. in the first place or have a researcher do it for you. --- Julie <juls92627@yahoo.com> wrote: > Okay - where do i go to find wills? Okay - In a will - William LEHEW listed his daughter as the widow of William FETHERINGALE - William created the will in 1811 and died in 1812 in Wythe, born around 1730 in Frederick. Does anyone know William FETHERINGALE? What happened to him? Did they have any children? or his wife's first name, lol. In the Shenandoah Marriages - I've found a Fanny Fetheringale getting married in 1820, bondsman was George Fetheringale Joseph Feathermgail m. Mary Atwood - Dec 7, 1784 - bondsman James Atwood John Hancock m. Mary Featheringill Mar 30 1797 - bondsman Edwin Atwood John Featheringill m. Mary Ramey Sep 22 1828 - bondsman Wm Lavin so I'm hoping that the family either his or theirs were in the area and someone might have ran ac cross them. thanks for checking. Hello everyone! :) Does anyone have a Frances ALLEN in their line? I have her marrying my Peter LEHEW/LAHUE guessing around 1729. I don't know where in Virginia. They had 11 children (Winifred, Spencer, William, Peter, John, Jeremiah, Francis, David, Elizabeth, Junia and Hannah), but I know nothing about her and her family and I'm trying to rectify that. Thanks for looking, or suggesting where I should look. Julie in CA --------------------------------- Expecting? Get great news right away with email Auto-Check. Try the Yahoo! Mail Beta.

Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.unknown/6991/mb.ashx Message Board Post: ANNOUNCEMENT: Free Online Database of Indentured Servants, Redemptioners, and Transported Convicts PROJECT TITLE: Immigrant Servants Database PROJECT URL: www.immigrantservants.com DESCRIPTION: Nathan W. Murphy, Ph.D. candidate at the University of Utah, is using skills he developed as a social historian and professional genealogist to reconstruct a passenger arrival list of indentured servants coming to Colonial America. The project will continue for several years. It follows in the spirit of Peter Wilson Coldham's efforts to publish passenger departure lists from sources in the United Kingdom and Ireland for indentured servants and transported convicts, but focuses on tapping American sources of immigrant servant arrivals to complement the UK data. Murphy, an Accredited Genealogist who resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, has quick access to Colonial American and European sources through the Family History Library. He has received permission from the major publishers of Colonial Virginia's court orders to extract evidences of imported servants from their books and make them available for free on the Internet. He hopes to complete his search of seventeenth-century court orders by Spring 2007. NOTE: The approximately 10,000 immigrant servants currently in the database do not derive from the same sources as those in the Virtual Jamestown project. The numbers of immigrants in this new database will continue to grow in the future. PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS: - Three search engines: SIMPLE SEARCH (queries all text in database), ADVANCED SEARCH (search by any of more than 50 fields in database), and LETTER SEARCH (browse through lists of servants arranged by the first letter of their surname). The search engines are equipped with SOUNDEX, which retrieves servants with surnames that sound alike, i.e. Murphy, Morphew, Murfee, Murfew, Murfey, Murphew, and Murphey all come back as possible matches with the surname "Murphy." - LEARNING CENTER, includes a copy of Murphy's ARTICLE "Origins of Colonial Chesapeake Indentured Servants: American and English Sources," published in the March 2005 edition of National Genealogical Society Quarterly, which provides tips for tracing the immigrant origins of English indentured servants; GLOSSARY of terms associated with the practice of indentured servitude; extensive list of LAWS from Colonial Virginia pertaining to indentured servants; lengthy BIBLIOGRAPHY identifying sources Murphy has used and hopes to use to build this database (includes references to 12 personal accounts of immigrant servants); and a list of LINKS that will interest researchers of immigrant servants. Comments and suggestions are welcome. I would love to hear more about your ancestors who came to Colonial America as servants. Nathan W. Thanks again! William's son Henry Lone Parks was born Shenandoah Co. Mar. 9, 1811 ----by one account. However his death record reported he was born Pendleton Co.
