    2. Peggy C. Wilson
    3. I research the Winton family and was given information that they were in Shenandoah Co., VA for a time before they moved into what became Tennessee. William and Betsey Winton's last child, George may have been born there in 1782. Their son, John Winton was said to have married at Woodstock, Shenandoah Co., VA 15 May 1784, but their daughter Margaret Winton married 20 Nov 1785 Greene Co., Tn to James M. Dunn and Wm Winton was bondsman. Does anyone have any records with this family listed in Shenandoah Co., Va? Peggy

    2. William D. Allen Sr.
    3. For what it's worth, My greatgrandfather, William Martin Allen, apprenticed to a Mr. Lichtliter in Grundy county, Missouri in the late 1850s. William had been born in Scott county, Illinois. William's father, James, was born in Casey county, Kentucky and his father, John, was born in Frederick county, Virginia. John's father was Benjamin and Ben's father was Robert Allen, who arrived in the colonies about 1735 from county Armagh in northern Ireland. Could there be a connection between William's Mr. Lichtliter and the Frederick county Lichtliters, if the families migrated west together. The idea is intriguing. The question is "are the original signatures on these deeds or are these deeds copies of deeds made by scribes who then in turn wrote "signed in German"?? Help anybody, especially..... 3. Does anybody recognize this family from the 1860 Bath co. census? The surname might also be spelled Knafe, Naffe, Knave, Nave, Ness, Nepp, or something I have't even thought of! Note that Belinda is probably a 2nd wife, married in the last 10 years or so, based on the children's ages. 3. Hello, I would like to find out the relationship between the family of Adam LICHLITER Sr. and the family of Cornelius B. LICHLITER, if any. Corrections to any of my info are welcome too. Adam LICHLITER Sr. (will written 8 Dec 1826 in Shenandoah Co VA, proven 8 Jan 1827) married to Cathrine --?--. Adam had a brother John LICHLITER (as per Adam's will), and I think he had a brother Jacob LICHLITER (there are numerous marriages of children of Jacob Lichliter at the same times as those marriages of Adam's children). Adam Sr. and Cathrine had children: 1. Catherine LICHLITER married 15 Apr 1805 to Henry SIEBERT. 2. Barbara LICHLITER married 29 Jan 1816 to John KENESLEY/KNISELY. 3. Magdalen LICHLITER married 4 Aug 1823 in Shenandoah Co VA to Solomon SMITH. 4. Henry LICHLITER. 5. Adam LICHLITER Jr. married 28 Oct 1816 in Shenandoah Co VA to Catherine KELLER (b. 8 Nov 1792). 6. Conrad LICHLITER married 21 Apr 1804 in Shenandoah Co VA to Sarah HARMAN. 7. Jacob LICHLITER married 7 Oct 1811 in Shenandoah Co VA to Lydia SHANK. 8. Daniel LICHLITER married 19 Nov 1817 in Shenandoah Co VA to Elizabeth SHIPE. 9. David LICHLITER married 5 Aug 1822 in Shenandoah Co VA to Cathrine CLEM. Elizabeth F. PENCE (b. 7 Aug 1837, d. 28 Feb 1920) married first 17 Jun 1857 in Shenandoah Co VA to John BOWERS, married second 16 May 1872 to Cornelius B. LICHLITER (b. ca 1843). John was killed in the War Between the States. Cornelius was the son of John LICHLITER and Mary Ann --?--. Cornelius enlisted 6 Aug 1861 as a private in Co. C, 136th Virginia Militia (Confederate). He enlisted 19 Feb 1862 in Martinsburg, Virginia as a private in Co. K, 7th Virginia Cav. (CSA). He was paroled 26 Apr 1865 by Federal forces in Winchester, Virginia. Elizabeth is buried in the Lichliter Cemetery, Detrick, Shenandoah Co VA. Children of Elizabeth and Cornelius: 1. Kirby L. LICHLITER (b. ca 1873, d. ca 1958) married 26 Dec 1896 to Daisy C. BOOTH. Kirby is buried in Peters Cemetery, Ft. Valley, Virginia. 2. Marion LICHLITER (b. ca 1875, d. ca 1941) married 12 Apr 1896 to Laura RITENOUR (b. ca 1877, d. ca 1965). Marion and Laura are buried in the Detrick Cemetery, Ft. Valley, Virginia. I have a lot of other Lichliter (and varied spellings) marriages listed from "Shenandoah County Marriage Bonds, 1772-1853" by Ashby to share. 2. Dear Valerie: I saw your post on Hill in Shenandoah area and wondered if you have heard of these folks. George S. Hill b1874 married Bettie E. Cooley 2Jun1894 in Middletown, Frederick Co, VA. George's birth was in Shenandoah Co and his parents are listed as Joseph and Frances Hill. Bettie Cooley's birth is 1874 and her parents are listed as Robert and Martha Fauver Cooley. According to the friend I am helping , he had always been told the family was from Senandoah Co, we don't know where before that. Boy I hope you can help us. 3. Hello this my first posting to the list. I am seeking any information on William Hill after 1780. His son George Hill could also be in Shenandoah Co. in this time frame. William and Catherine Stacey Hill were from Stafford/Prince William/Fauquier Co.'s. In a record of 1780 he is selling land in Fauquier Co. and it states resident of Shenandoah Co. I have much information on this family. They are also connected to the Holmes Family. Any information would be appreciated. I do have most all books available from Stafford/Prince William/Fauquier Counties, I would be happy to share any info. 1. EDDY and/or TAYLOR
    2. Leavens Family
    3. I am on a wild goose chase I know and this may be a shot in the dark, but maybe someone out there can help. Here's my story. I am looking for my gggg grandfather, George W. EDDY (I don't know what the W. stands for. My hunch is that it stands for Washington, but it's only a hunch). The info I have has him born in 1801. Two different sources have him born in either New York or New England (quite broad I know). His parents (I don't know their names) died when he was young and he was left in the care of an uncle. Apparently this uncle was "cruel" to him and he left at an early age and went to sea. He led a seafaring life for seven years, returned to North Carolina briefly and then to Virginia. He was married in 1828 (possibly 4 May 1828) to Lucinda TAYLOR who was born 6 Jul 1814 in Virginia (I have no county for her birth). I have her parents listed as Solomon TAYLOR and Sarah LANGSTON with no further info on them either. I assume they're from Virginia also. At least that's why I'm looking here. I do have conflicting info that George and Lucinda may have married in Knox Co, TN though. Although that doesn't make sense. Anyway, sometime after they married they ended up in White Co, TN and had their first child, John A. EDDY (my direct line) in 1831. Lucinda's parents may have migrated with them??? They then moved when John was 18 months old to Allen Co, KY where they settled and died. They had a total of 9 children. I get much of this information from a biography that is posted on the Allen Co, KY genweb site their son, John A. EDDY. I contacted someone who was working on the EDDY line off the VAGENWEB and she gave me some counties to start looking in. She said their were EDDYs in Frederick and Botetourt Counties. She also mentioned looking in Montgomery and Franklin counties which I know aren't covered on this list. What I'm looking for is pretty much anything that may be helpful in my further search. Is there anyone out there who may have info on this EDDY line possibly this TAYLOR line that I am looking at? I am open to any hints or if anyone wants to point me in a certain direction. Thank you so much in advance. Amy Leavens Snohomish, WA
