    1. JUNOWEB INTERNET FOR GENEALOGY
    2. Hello fellow rooters. I've been doing my genealogy research on these ROOTSWEB sites but don't have access to the internet, where it seems even more genealogy info can be found. I'm using JUNO e-mail(which is free but limited on what you can do), Now JUNO is offering a low rate to get onto their internet site(JUNOWEB). Are any of you accessing the internet through the JUNOWEB site? If so, is it as good as the rest of them(ie, AOL, PACBELL,COMMUNITYNET,etc). Sorry this letter isn't a direct question on genealogy, but I'd sure like to get onto the net and this seems a great deal, but I'm still a novice looking for advice from all you pros. Thanks, John(Napa, CA). ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. 1. STATE CENSUS RECORDS

    3. I checked with another email list, and this answer was returned when I posted Louis Moses' query (because I was interested in the same info!): QUESTION: Does anyone know if there are any Virginia state census records available for the period 1805 to 1835? If not state census records, are there county tax records for Shenandoah and Frederick Counties for that same time frame? ANSWER: "I know for a fact there are personal property tax records for Shenandoah starting in 1782 and continuing through the period you mention. While they won't give you actual tallies of the members of a household, they do provide the number of males over the age of 16 or 21 (varies) plus all sorts of fascinating other statistics (which also vary from year-to-year), such as number of horses, colts, waggons, etc. These records can be ordered on microfilm at your local LDS Family History Center. I checked "The Handy Book for Genealogists," to see if there were extant Virginia state (as opposed to federal) census records and they do not mention them. A number of states and territories did, however, conduct state censuses over the years. ~ Margaret HOPE this helps, LOUIS! ~ Peggy

    2. Joshua ABNETT is found on CD 315 Census Index as follows: Abnett, Joshua 1830-1839 CD315 Census Index: U.S. Selected Counties Abnett, Joshua 1830-1839 VA CD315 Census Index: U.S. Selected Counties I have the following information: Joshua Abnett VA West Frederick County p 100 If someone has access to this census, I would appreciate a look-up and any additional family information that is shown for him and his family. Also, what is meant by "West Frederick County" in Virginia? And why is the census listed in the index as 1830-39, instead of just 1830 or 1840? I will greatly appreciate any help on this! Thanks so much! Liz

    1. Andrew Wallace
    2. James Wm. Wallace
    3. Andrew WALLIS/WALLACE. He married Margaret CALBREATH in 1796 in Augusta County, Virginia. Andrew and Margaret were present in Augusta, VA for the settlement of Margaret's father's estate, Thomas Calbreath (also spelled Galbraith), in 1801. Nothing is known of them until the 1820 census where Margaret/Peggy appears as the head of household suggesting Andrew was deceased prior to 1820. Andrew and Margaret had a son, who I am descended from, named Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE. He was born in 1805 and claims Tennessee as his place of birth. Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE married Jane Calbreath, his cousin, in ca. 1825. Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE appears in census of 1840, 1850, as head of household with Margaret as a member of his household. Possible siblings of Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE are : David, James, Jefferson, William C.and Sarah. Thomas M. WALLACE and Jane (CALBREATH) WALLACE had the following children: Mary L. Wallace born ca 1836 TN Frances Wallace born ca 1836 TN Andrew Smith Wallace born 1837 TN, Mar. Louisa Holcomb, died 1923 KY William Alexander Wallace born 12-3-1839 TN, Mar. Eliza Crantz/Krantz, died 6-30-1919 KY Thomas Wallace born 1841 TN Hugh B. Wallace born 1843 TN Sarah Jane Wallace born 7-20-1847 died 12-12-1890 KY, Margaret Wallace and her son Thomas M. Wallace are possibly in Blount County, TN prior to settling in Smith County, TN which later became Macon County. Thomas removed to Simpson County, Kentucky between 1850 and 1860. Any information regarding Andrew WALLIS/WALLACE is dearly needed. Will exchange information. James Wm. Wallace [email protected]
