    2. Clyde Larsen
    3. I am looking for information on SHINER, CURLET, HUSE, PIERCE, LISTER/LESTER families of Winchester or Frederick Co. Virginia early 1800s. My great great grandfather George Huse Shiner was born 20 June 1797 near Winchester. He married Rachel Curlet Pierce and they came west. His mother was Rachel Lister. He and his sister Cynthia were orphaned and raised by their maternal grandmother Sarah Gibbons Lister. His father may have been George, but I am interested in anyone by these names as I believe they were all related. Thanks. S. Larsen [email protected]

They or their children or other relatives would have moved on possibly to MD, VA/WV. Their son, William SMITH, was born in the Virginias or Ky, returned to Rockingham County, VA. There he married to Christina SITES, daughter of Christian SITES & Elizabeth REIMEL (RYMEL). Her families came from the Lancaster Co, PA area. I have information regarding William & Christina, but have no clue to the parents or siblings for William SMITH. William B.(or Barnum) SMITH, supposedly was b. 15 May 1793 married 29 Dec 1812 in Rockingham Co, VA (he was under 21 yrs & had to have surety who was Benjamin VANCE. I believe William SMITH had siblings, but no clue as to their names. IF you have any SMITH's in this area & time period I desperately would like to hear from you as I have exhausted every avenue I can think of. I am ready and willing to share any information I have, most of which is docuemnted. Phylliss Smith Davis - Glendale, AZ [email protected]

    3. I've just returned from my yearly "fix" to Shenandoah County. I will slowly add 200 pages of Judiciary Records beginning with the year 1800. I need volunteers to index these records. If each person visiting the site will index just one page, it will make it much easier to find the surname one is looking for. This project will take weeks (maybe months) to complete. I have about 75 disks to wade through. I also have some other pics to add. One is of a family that married into the McWms line and surnames include HOTTLE, BLY, CRABILL, HOLLER, SHRUM AND SHULTZ or (SHUTZ.......can't read my cousin's handwriting). I'll identify the people in the photo. I have a picture of a mill in Toms Brook. I didn't even know there was a mill so hoping someone on the list can tell me more about this mill. Look carefully at the men in the photo. They are wearing Union uniforms. My cousin has this picture and it is an original. He cannot remember how he came into possession of the photo. It's not on my pages yet. Will get the pics added soon as I have time. I also have pics Jim Artz sent right before I left for my trip that will be online soon. There are now 2 pages of records online. I spotted MUNTZ, RODEFFER, MADEIRA, HOFFMAN, ABBOTT, MILLER, MOYERS, ELLINGER, RINKER, SPANGLER, DAVIDSON, GRIM, COPENHAVER, CAUFMAN, SHEARMAN, and others when I glanced at these 2 pages. These pictures are left large intentionally to make for easier viewing. It may take some of you a great deal of download time but I don't think you'll mind the wait once you see the page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~vashenan/vashenan.html "Shenandoah Co VAGenWeb" In the Contents, look under COURTHOUSE RECORDS. 1. Re: Amos Brown, b. 1817
    2. Patti: The family of Amos Brown is connected with my Garrett lines, so I have researched them. If you wish detail, e-mail me privately. Amos Brown, b. 14 Aug 1817, md. 22 Jun 1839 Warren Co., VA, Mary Ann Ramey, daughter of John. Amos was son of Joseph and Sarah (Edmonds) (Sherrer/Shires) Brown. Sarah's first husband was Robt Sherrer, who died in the War of 1812. Sarah was daughter of Daniel Edmonds, who served in the Rev. War. Daniel's father, Daniel Edmonds, also served in the Rev War. Census records state that Joseph Brown was born in New Jersey. I believe, but cannot prove, that Joseph was a brother of an older Amos Brown and of Theodocia Brown who md. a Grove and of a Jesse Brown who md. a daughter of John Hawley. I believe their father was an Amos Brown who appeared in Shenandoah Co tax records. I can't prove this. Warren Co VA was carved out of parts of Shenandoah & Frederick Co., VA. I have a file in Word Perfect 5.1 on this Brown family, which can be read by Works. I can also convert it into ASCII. If anybody wishes me to send this file to you privately via e-mail attachment, let me know. I have several connections to this family. My ancestors Alexander C. Mills & Matilda Garrett, daughter of David, were married 15 Jan 1834 (date of marriage bond) in Frederick Co., VA. Bondsman was James Shires. On the same date James Shires md. Elizabeth Garrett, Matilda's sister. Bondsman was Alexander C. Mills. James was the only son of Robert & Sarah (Edmonds) Sherrer. David Garrett's son, Alfred Garrett, had a son Newman Garrett who md. Mary Brown, daughter of Amos & Mary (Ramey) Brown. David's son, Joseph Garrett, md. Elizabeth Brown, oldest child of Joseph & Sarah (Edmonds)(Sherrer) Brown.
