I am descended from Abraham SAVAGE who was one of the early settlers of New Market and was one of the original persons who laid out lots in that town. Somewhere I read that there was a street in New Market, Abram Street, which was supposed to be named after him. We are planning to be in the area next week to show my 83 year old mother where her ancestors lived, and I would love to show her Abram Street. However, the map of New Market on Streets 98 doesn't show an Abram Street. Does anyone know if it still exists? If so, where is it: If not, what is the present name of the original Abram Street? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Joan

Dear Michael, I can not tell from what you wrote that you and I are for sure descended from the same Millers...but it seems likely that your facts go with mine. I am descended from Jacob Mueller (1698-1766) of Muellerstadt, Virginia later renamed Woodstock. I am descended from his son Christian and Christian's son, John Miller who moved to Gallipolis, Ohio. Interestingly enough John's son who was my gr-gr-gr-grandfather was named Henry Harrison Miller...perhaps a coincidence...perhaps a family name...Henry Harrison Miller was born 1813 so he coincides in generation with your Harrison Miller.... Kyle, Thanks for the post. This is the information I have, except I did not have the name of Rev. Paul Henkle. Do you have in your notes where you got the information from? Maybe that's where I should be looking also. Thanks, Jan

Bev, I have always knew where North Mt. was and it is not Mass. Mountain. North Mountain is in Augusta County and Mass. Mountain is in Rockingham County. Dot
I live in Berkeley County, WV, which ajoins Frederick County, Va. The mountain range that I can see out my kitchen window is called North Mountain. I was told this is part of the North Mountain that run through Virginia. Bev
Just to make things a little more confusing....in the very early records they referred to the Massanutten Mtn. as "North Mountain" and the Blue Ridge as "South Mountain". Hi Folks, Great North Mountain continues NNE through Frederick County. << The DeLorme atlas shows Great North Mountain to be the current county line between Shenandoah and Hardy Counties. It looks like it is a range of peaks because it is listed on the map both north and south of the jog at about Wolf Gap and there's a list of peaks along the name. >> Little North Mountain is SE of Great North Mountain, also running through Frederick County. << Little North Mountain is in current Rockingham Co. south of the Hardy Co., Shenandoah Co. line. >> Regards, Flo. My daughter just got back from camp Shrine Mont where she climbed North Mountain. She says it is called "Great North Mountain". The camp is located at the edge of Rockingham County. The camp is located on property that was once a fancy resort. Hi Listers--I found a birth record from 1853 which states that the residence of the parents and child was N. Mountain. Does anyone know where this is? Thanks in advance! CJ Andes [email protected]

Carla, The place the Hamners grew up in is a town called Schuyler (pronounced "skyler" by the locals). It is not near Warrenton, but is instead, a short distance south of Charlottesville. From Charlottesville you would go south on Rt. 29 and then turn east on Rt 6. There should be signs for the turn off to Schuyler. You will find it easily on a map of the state. Though it is rather hot now, If you have the time, I would recommend walking the grounds of Jefferson's Monticello. Yours, Issodhos
