If you search this board and other websites, you will note that researchers now know that Ralph Shelton of Middlesex county was not the son of Peter Chilton, was not born in Virginia but transported there before 1702. His date of birth is most likely 1670-1680 and certainly earlier than 1685. His wife was Mary but there no evidence of their marriage, no evidence of surname and no evidence to assign her any parents. The information you have is based on a very bad genealogy written by Mildred Campbell Whitaker in the early 20th century and since then propogated by others. Ralph Shelton of Middlesex county is currently of unknown parents and origins based on the available evidence.
