There was a George Shelton who also served in the War of 1812 from Dickson County, Tn.and died in 1815during the war) who I believe might be the father of my Gideon Farmer Shelton. I got my first male Shelton cousin to DNA test and that test matches the descendant of Joel Shelton that was in Dickson County. Our line appears to be a Chilton/Chelton/Shelton line...........as this line had all of these labels at times. The name was Chilton and changed to Chelton or Shelton in the mid-1700's. The early Chiltons were in many places in Va. I can only take mine back as far as Pittsylvania County, Va. in 1804 as that was when my great-great Grandfather was born there. By the way, on the inventory list of George Shelton when his estate was administed by a John and a James Shelton a Joel Shelton and a William Shelton purchased items (in Dickson County). Do you know if and how the Mary Davidson who married Joel Shelton fits in with your Davidsons? I will look through my notes and see if I have any other information about the Davidsons. Beth Aann
