Searching for a Malinda Shelton, b c 1818 Tennessee. She married Charles D. Martin July 18, 1839 and they left McMinn, TN and went to Franklin County, MO soon after the marriage. Charles and Malinda stayed in Franklin County, MO from 1840 to the mid to late 1850s and are next shown in the 1860 Miller County, MO census. Malinda disappears from the census before 1870 as she is not shown in the 1870 census. Charles D Martin stated in his Goodspeed bio that Malinda died in 1876 but no trace of her has been found. Here is the 1870 Miller County, MO census data - 1870 census Richwood Twp Charles D. Martin 52 NC, widowed John 23, James 19, Andrew 16. Living next door is Mary J. Hickman 33 single Domestic with a 16 year old Emily Shelton, also a domestic servant. Mary Jane Hickman was the second wife of Charles D. Martin.
