I thought I should share it online in case it helps anyone in their research. I typed it up from the original (there were a couple of words I couldn't read): Soldier's Discharge. To all whom it may concern. Honour Ye, that Jesse G. Shelton a private of Captain William Henderson's Company (C.) Fortieth Regiment of Virginia Voluntary who was enlisted the 22nd day of May, one thousand eight hundred and sixty one, to serve for one year is hereby Honorably discharged from the Army of the Confederate States. Said Jesse G. Shelton was born in Lancaster County in the State of Virginia, is Forty Years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high light complexion, blue eyes, light hair, and by occupation [was?] enlisted a Carpenter. Given at "Camp Maury" this 22nd day of November 1861. Stafford Co. Va. Wm Henderson [Captain?] Commanding Company C. 40th Reg. Va.
