Absalom Shelton was not referring to his second wife, Mary Belcher, in his will when he died in 1840. He was referring to his third wife, Mary Turner, whom he married 14 Dec 1834 in Clinton Co., IL (Marriage Book Vol. 1, page 47). 2. His son, Josiah C. Shelton, did not purchase 8,000 acres of land in Clinton County, IL. He did purchase two parcels, each containing 80 acres, of Public Domain Land in 1851, both recorded in Vol. 351, page 157.
