She was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Tarrytown, the daughter of LeRoy and Mary E. (Nixon) Roberts. She married Walter Shelton Jr. on Jan. 14, 1945, in North Tarrytown. Peggy attended school in North Tarrytown. She had worked for Phelps Memorial Hospital in North Tarrytown for 22 years. She was known as "Nana" to all her loved ones. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Shelton Jr., known as Pop-Pop. She is survived by two sons, Bradley of White Plains and Walter Shelton III of Davenport; and three daughters, Carol Shelton of Elmsford, Diane Munroe of Davenport and Francine Shelton of Ossining. One brother, Alfred Roberts, died years earlier. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a host of many nieces and nephews and cousins. Nana will be dearly missed by all of us and may she and Pop-Pop rest in peace. Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta. The Rev. Melvin Farmer, pastor of the River Street Baptist Church, Oneonta, will officiate. Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 10-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, prior to the service. Mrs. Shelton will be cremated after the funeral service at the Hillington Crematory in Morris.
