    3. Regarding: Nelson Shelton's daughter m/John Fitzhugh who's father was Peter Fitzhugh who married Nancy Dawson daughter of John Dawson. ============ Since I knew nothing further about John DAWSON, I did a little web surfing before responding to the question regarding DAWSON (mentioned in the lease & release conveyance of property from the Rt. Hon. JOHN, Lord Carteret, Baron of Hawnes, to John ROBERTS, ESQ.,of Deans Court, Middlesex Co., on "the river May & adjoining the Barony of JOHN DAWSON, ESQ.", made on 18 & 19 Feb 1730 and witnessed by RICHARD SHELTON of London, gentleman, late Sec'y to Lords Proprs. in Carolina & by GEORGE SHELTON before JOHN BARGER, ESQ., Lord Mayor & the Aldermen of London). Name, locale & date make the following of possible relevance. Sometimes clues come from unexpected sources. Good luck: In 1754, 24 years after the land deal, newly appointed governor Arthur DOBBS arrived at Newbern. " The gentlemen, who sat in council during governor DobbsÂ’ administration, were James Hasell, Mathew Rowan, James Murray, Francis Corbin, John Dawson, Lewis H. de Rossett, John Rieusett, James Jones, John Swann, John Rutherfurd, Richard Spaight, Edward B. Dobbs, Charles Berry, John Sampson, Henry E. M'Cullough, Alexander M'Cullough, William Dry, Robert Palmer and Benjamin Herron." Kind regards, Sheila Gibson
