    3. Someone has requested that this information be posted about the Jessee James Shelton book: "Louise Shelton of Hanford CA wrote the first book "Descendents of Jessie Shelton" in 1977 and did a third printing in 2004. I have her address if anyone wants it. She states that it is links to immigrant James Shelton, came to America in 1620." If you are interested in the address for Louise Shelton, just post your inquiry on the Shelton Mailing List and you will receive a message from the person with the address. However, I think it is only fair to tell you that James Shelton came to the Colony of Virginia in 1620. People have tried to join the most exclusive genealogical Society in Virginia, First Families of Virginia, on the basis of this James Shelton and, at that time, learn the truth -- that he was actually James Skelton. This myth is the result of the "research" which Mildred Campbell Whitaker published in the early 1930s entitled THE SHELTONS OF ENGLAND AND AMERICA which has been proven to be, mostly, her mythology without much fact on which to base most of that book. Her theory that all Skeltons, Cheltons, Chiltons and Sheltons were all Sheltons, that the Skeltons, Cheltons and Chiltons just didn't know how to spell their surname has been disproven by genealogical DNA testing. I know nothing about the rest of this book on the line of Jesse James Shelton. Hildred
