I do not know if they are one and the same but I will list the data. Mastin M. Shelton was the son of Stephen Shelton died 1822 Pittsylvania County, VA, son of Armistead Shelton died 1844 Pittsylvania County, VA, son of Crispin Shelton died 1794 Pittsylvania County, VA, son of Ralph Shelton, d. 1733, Middlesex County, VA, who is recorded as a headright of Thomas Meriwether in Essex County in 1702, meaning that Ralph arrived in the Colony of Virginia about 1702. Mastin M. Shelton married Polly Shelton in Pittsylvania County in 1827 in Pittsylvania County, recorded in Pittsylvania County Marriage Register, page 89. Polly signed her own certificate which means she was at least 21 years of age at the time of the marriage zand some sources give her proper name as Mary L. Shelton. She was the daughter of Young Shelton, son of Daniel Shelton, Sr., uncle of Armistead Shelton, father of Stephen Shelton who was father of Mastin M. Shelton.
