All that I have been able to find is his "headright" record. On October 10, 1702, is recorded in Essex County, Va., Deeds & Wills, Book No. 10, 1699-1702, p.133, a record of Thomas Meriwether claiming land for having imported Ralph to the Colony of Virginia-- a "headright claim" but there is no record of an indenture. Meriwether's will is recorded in Essex Co, VA., Deeds and Wills Book No. 13, 1707-1711, on Jan. 7, 1708/09. Ralph Shelton is a witness so Ralph was an adult at the time he came to Virginia or at least of sufficient age to serve as a witness to a legal document five years after his arrival. I have never been able to find a source for the date of Ralph's birth so would appreciate very much if you would be so kind as to share this information.
