Author: snobirdsrus67 Surnames: shelton Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.shelton/2955.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I one of 5 girls formally sheltons and 1 brother here a shelton, are living in california for many years now moved to california from Iowa with our parents.many years ago. father a shelton was born and raised in waterloo, Iowa.(deceased now) Bernard G Shelton one of 8 brothers all the same names of the shelton gang, 1 sister her name was Irene.the brothers some I can remember were: Bernie, Earl, Roy, Alfred, etc. the shelton gang was mostly in peoria Ill. a gang and bootleggers.most of them of Iowa they ran back & forth Iowa to Ill.my fathers mother I know was florence maiden name - cotton. I never met her barely knew my fathers, father even forgot his name william or james or something, he worked with the illinois central railroad in chicago Ill. for many years. we are currently researching now the sheltons in midwest.
