Hello all, IS anyone interested in helping me do a location study of James Shelton (m. Susannah Vardeman in VA?) I have some information about where her father, William Vardeman, lived. But, did he live in proximity to James Shelton? My ancestor, Samuel Bird, m. Molly Vardeman about 1766. At that time, they are living in Orange Co., VA on Swift Run --which is NOT close to William Vardeman, who is over in Bedford Co. in 1762. The Birds also were living on Moorman River in Albemarle in the 1772-1784 time frame. Then I found the following info: Title Shelton, William. Publication 30 August 1763. (Note: is William H. Shelton related?) FCVA Order Book 1800-1805, p. 161, Sept, 1802 James Bird, having raised a riot in the courtyard and being brought before the court for the same by the Sheriff, it is ordered that he give security for keeping the peace and for his good behavior for one year from this time. Whereupon the said James Bird and William Bozwell and William H. Shelton, his securities, came into court. (Note: Isham Hodges was also fined a reduced charge for the same offense. His securities were William Burwell and Samuel Cockran.) My question: is William Shelton related to James Shelton? What is the Shelton connection to my Birds? Any help is appreciated.
