I am just now getting back into the Sheltons after giving up for a time. Interestingly, it didn't include anything about David Rich's place of birth, though the pension concerned his widow! It did give many hints that Sarah Shelton was not a woman with a high reputation in the community. Nothing specific, but she was known as a woman who couldn't always be counted on. I have gotten into a few LDS microfilms from Jackson County IN. My search of the deed index did yield a few entries for the Jarvis and Weathers family. (If I'm not mistaken, and I definitely could be, I believe that family has roots in Nelson County, KY.) I believe that if I could get a specific location for one of them, I could break this family. An intriguing thing for me is the name Eli. Sarah named a child Eli. Hello List, I am told that Geo. Shelton b. 1855 of VA married in Logan Co KY 1878, to Nannie Mims/Mimms. More info needed about Geo. Shelton.? I have not found this couple in any census records after they married.? One person's online tree shows this Geo. Shelton to be?from my family?in Patrick Co Va, but also shows a single Nannie Mims in 1880 (b 1862 KY)? living in Jackson Co MO.? Quite confusing. Would anyone know more about this couple? They didn't help as to place of birth or parentage of Sarah Ann, or her brothers for that matter. I did just learn that Caleb and John Shelton were both Civil War veterans.
