He was born in Hamilton twnshp in Jackson Co. Ind, James H. moved to Nodaway co. Mo. in the 1880s . Most of the children moved with him. It is in the northwest corner of Mo. Nellie was married to Hershal Souders for 56 years, before his death in 1989. She lived at the Georgetown Woods Seniors Apartments for many years, where she was a valued member of the community. Her life was a blessing, and she will be missed by all who loved her. Funeral services will be Friday, October 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd., with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. I am interested in a Daniel Shelton who came from some other location into Mecklenburg County in 1804. As you know, Mecklenburg County was cut out of the territory of Lancaster County in 1765 and Lancaster County was taken from the territory of Brunswick County in 1745. In light is this geographic history, I wonder if the Daniel of mecklenburg might be a kinsman of the Daniel you mention who was in Brunswick County. Thank you.

I certainly suspected that Levi, Josiah, Alvoree and Mary "Polly"Davidson were likely from the same basic/overall Davidson family as Abraham, John and Joseph. I have seen some records that claim that Abraham, John and Joseph were sons of a John Davidson of Bertie Co., NC and his wife Hannah Hughson. Some records, however, show them with a totally different set of children, and one record even shows them with just one son named Isaac Bruce Davidson (so it is hard to believe any of it). I have even seen this John Davidson (who married Hannah Hughson) shown with the middle names of "Goolman" and "Goldman." The only "real" John Goolman Davidson of whom I am aware is the one who lived in the Tazewell Co., VA area and who helped to create Bluefeld, VA (but who knows)? I understand, however, that no real proof has ever been provided that shows the man in Tazewell really had the middle name of "Goolman."

I believe he ties in to the Pittsylvania/Halifax Davidsons. Records in Dickson Co., TN. and later probate records in Perry Co., TN and Barry, Christian, Green counties of Missouri clearly document a relatedness between the Davidson, Shelton and Bunch lines. He definitely has ties to the Shelton line (land records in Perry Co.). These documents confirm (for me) the relationship of Levi Davidson (1799-1851) of Perry Co., TN to Josiah Davidson (1790-ca1880) of Dickson Co., TN. There is also a connection to the Joseph Davidson of Halifax. I've seen records that Abraham, Joseph (Dickson TN) and John are brothers. But those records indicate that John went to Alabama (I think). I've looked at this John in Alabama and I can't seem to get it to "compute." I know there was a John Davidson in Perry Co., TN in 1820 - over 45 years of age. Living next to David Bunch. Letsy Davidson who married David Bunch was identified in a Bunch genealogy as the daughter of John Davidson. The dates of birth for the Davidsons seem to "qualify" them to be considered as children of John Davidson and Rachel Chilton/Shelton: Letsy, ca 1787; Josiah ca 1790; Mary ca 1792; Levi 1799. Because of the interrelated pension application documents (War of 1812) for both Letsy Davidson Bunch and Mary Davidson Shelton, an assumption is made that they are sisters. But again the proof is only through assumptions made by these documents. Migration patterns of both families to sw Missouri about 1854 also support the theory. I'm still looking for more validation.
