Samuel and his brother Furman were probably born in McDuffie Co., GA, Dearing since they were on the federal census for that county in 1900. That census shows their mother as Lizzie b. 8/1869. Samuel & Furman had siblings named: Lular b. 8/1870 Viola b. 5/1893 I am hopeful to find a descendant who may know more about the father Henry S. Shelton who m. (2) Lulu (Smith??) abt. 1905 probably Richmond Co., GA.

Shelton, who is in out family Bible as born in Giles Co. Va on 20 Nov. 1820, died 17 June 1904 in Sullivan Co. Tennessee. He was married twice, first to Nancy W. Kerr or Carr born abt. 1821, married Richard on 30 Jan. 1845, and died after the 1860 census; second marriage was to Martha Ann Dickson, born 23 Jan. 1833 in Buffalo Creek, Ashe Co. N.C. died in Bristol, Sullivan Co. Tennessee on 21 March 1904. Married Richard about 1870. Martha and Richard are burried in East Hill Cemetery in Bristol, VA. I have a complete tree from Richard on down but a stone wall before him. He was still in Giles Co. VA in 1850 census, was in Scott Co. VA in 1860, Grayson Co. VA in 1880, and Bristol, Sullivan Co. Tn in 1900. His son, my great grandfather was in 22 Va cavalry, CSA in Civil War. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
