Photo was taken in about 1890, in a town starting with “B”. On the back of the photo are two names and addresses: Bert Shelton, 218 S. 10th St., Goshen, IN – and James Shelton, 220 S. 10th St. There is no identification as to who the parents are. Goshen is in Elkhart Co., WI, and I did find Bert Shelton there. There is a Bristol, IN close by, and that could be where the photo was taken (?) I found in the 1920 census for Goshen (Elkhart Co.) Bert D. Shelton, age 40 – living AT 218 S. 10th St. He was age 40, wife’s name Edith. The WWI Draft Registration for Bert was taken in Elkhart, IN in Sept 1918, and his name was “Bert Dallis Shelton”, living at 220 S. 10th St., Goshen. His DOB was 1 Dec 1879, and wife was Ida Edith Shelton. Get back to me at [email protected] if you are related to Bert D. Shelton.

Test SH-21 shows that Roderick Shelton who married Sarah Ursula Briggs is NOT a descendant of the Ralph Shelton family of Middlesex Co., Virginia. Do you have additional information that would change that finding? Edward, I would suggest you have your DNA tested to help find the correct line of Shelton's for your ancestor. This would certainly help other researchers, too.

Shelton Samuel Everett Shelton * Henry C. Shelton A. Edgar Shelton Edna Shelton Sarah Elma Shelton * I have further info (from census) on this person for another generation. DNA testing has shown a probable link from Roderick Shelton (progenitor) to Ralph Shelton of Middlesex Co, VA. As yet, we do not know how they are linked.

So far as I know (I have been following Roderick and his descendancy for about 10 years and have been a member of this board since its inception) no proof of Roderick having served in the military or aiding the Revolution in any way has ever been found (or at least not circulated).
