Bradford. He was the son of Absolam Edgington, the son of George Edgington, Jr., the son of George Edgington who originally stowed away on a ship as a teenager and came to this country from England around 1713 or 14. Morris, as Clemma's father was called, had a ceramics shop. Around 29 Aug 1873, two drunks came into the shop and started causing trouble. When he tried to get them to leave one of them stabbed him. He died 2 days later. He and Nancy had 7 children: Eli (died as a baby), George Washington, Anna M., Orla M., Clemma, Dora and Mary. She married John Wesley Shelton b abt. 1861 in Bentonville, OH. Died 15 Mar 1931. His father's name was also John Wesley Shelton b 13 Sep 1829 in Adams Co., OH; d. 02 Dec 1911. He married Margaret Brittingham, b 25 Mar 1830 in Brown Co., OH and d 17 Feb 1906 at Aberdeen, Brown Co. Ohi. His parents were Robert A. "Buddy" Shelton b. in Va. in 1791 and Abigal Britton. John Wesley and Clemma had 4 sons and a daughter. Emmitt, their oldest was my grandfather. For the most part, the Sheltons were farmers. However Emmitt and his father also worked on the Ohio river on boats owned by Clemma's brother, George Washington Edgington. Rebecca's maiden name may have been Sullins. Both of Jessie's parents were foriegn born. Nathan P.'s sister, Elizabeth E. Richardson(1836-1894) also married a Shelton, Robert Bruce Shelton(1838-?), Robert was the son of Samuel Shelton(1800-1868) and Prudence Miller(1814-1877). The two families may have been linked.
