Hello, I was wondering if you have any additional info whatsoever re: 2 John Shaw b: 1778 in Dutchess Co., New York ............ +Sarah Wheaton b: 1787 My Shaw ancestor was John Shaw b.c1791 (unsure where this birth estimate came from) who appeared in Halifax, Nova Scotia bef Sept 1815 as a widow and married Elizabeth (Betsy) Crowell of Lawrencetown, NS. He died bef 1866 in Lawrencetown. I have found a rather obscure reference to him being a Loyalist but have been unable to trace him. I noticed that many of the siblings of your John Shaw b.1778 ended up in New Brunswick and coming from New York could quite possibly have been Loyalists themselves. Having no firm birthdate for my own John Shaw, it appears to me that your John Shaw is of the right timeframe and could be a likely lead. I was hoping you would have some other bit of information that could either eliminate the possibility of them being the same man, or something else that might substantiate it (ie marriage date of John and Sarah?).
