The only knowledge I have of my second great-grandmother Mary Shaw comes from the back of a photo in our family album. It tells me she was born in Lancashire, England on May 23, 1816 and died in 1889 in Montreal, Canada. As I understand it, she spent some time in the United States, but I don't know where. I think her daughter, Frances Helen Arless, met my great-grandfather, Warren Herschel Loss, in Rochester, New York where he lived most of his life. I have also been told she's buried in St. James church yard in Montreal, but I have little or no knowledge of Montreal and don't know how to find the church. The verso of her husband's photograph (James Arless) says he died in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1894 while visiting his sister. I have not yet been able to verify that information because Indiana requires a month and year to obtain a death certificate. I'm stumped.
