Hello Listers I have just joined your list and hope that you may be able to help me in my search for the above family. As I only just begun this search on behalf of a friend who is descendant of John and Jane I have not much info as yet. By family stories John & Jane SHAW [possibly Jane's maiden name was also Shaw] born Inverness, Sct. emigrated to Tasmania Australia about 1859 with their 2 small boys Alexander James and Peter Donald. I have found Peter Donald Shaw's marriage and family in Tasmania but Alexander came to New South Wales and settled in the Tenterfield area of NSW. John SHAW is believed to have been killed when he fell off a horse as by 1865 his wife Jane had remarried to a fellow named KANNS [surname] and they had 2 boys Thomas and Billy. Joan .No . My Shasws came from Glascow area but the Irish Shaws (Co. Monaghan and Armagh ) came from Inverness area .
