My John J. Shaw, b. 23 Apr 1840 in NY had an older sister; Catherine, b. 1837 and a younger brother George W., b. 1845. The parents were John, b. 1782 in Ireland and Crisiania Churchill, b. 21 Nov 1807 in VT. They moved to WI in the 1850's. In 1873 John J. married Jerusha Alice Wheeler and moved to Pierce county, WI.
