    3. Hello everyone, I have in my possession a "death penny" with the name John Edward SHAW. I have looked him up on the Commonwealth War graves commission web site and he appears to be the son of George Edward SHAW and Jane SHAW and lived at 23 Burnley Street, Chadderton, Oldham in 1917. He was killed on the 20th August 1917 aged 27, in Belgium during WW1. His body was not found and is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial panel 8 and 162, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. He attained the rank of Corporal in the Royal Engineers, 2nd Special Coy, Welsh Regiment (formerly 2nd bn) If this penny belongs to anyone's family you are researching, please e-mail me (off list as I only subscribed to send this e-mail) and let me know. I will post it off to you with the information I have discovered above. Regards Steve Pritchard [email protected] -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
