In response to Susan Shaw Gardner's request to the list for Shaw first names beginning with P, I am asking the following question: Adamson Tannehill Shaw and wife, Frances Hampton, came to Lawrence Co., AL (now Colbert Co., AL) in l819 from the Iredell/Rowan county line. Several of their children gave their offsprings the first name of PINKNEY/PINCKNEY/or just plain PINK. To date, I have found no familial reason for their usage of this name, thus begging the assumption that these Pinkney Shaws were named in honor of the famous Charles Cotesworth Pinckney. I would like to hear from anyone who can shed light on this quandary. Many thanks. Mary
