Jesse Alfred Shaw Jr. was born in Crawford County, WI in 1855. He was the son of Jesse Alfred Shaw Sr. born about 1810 in Ohio and who lived in Hancock and Shelby Indiana most of his adult life. I believe, but have never been able to prove that he was the son of Patrick Shaw of Warren County, OH and Grandson of John Shaw of Iredell County, NC and then Warren County, OH. Jesse Sr. and his family moved to Wisconsin about 1852 where they settled and several of his children were married. Jesse Jr. migrated with his Mother and Sister to Dayton, WA in 1878 and lived in an around Walla Walla, Dayton and Pomeroy, WA until his death in Walla Walla in 1927. Jesse has several brothers and sisters that I have not located, including John Robinson Shaw who remained and died in Wisconsin, Benjamin Shaw who was last recorded in Hancock Co. Indiana in 1850, Charlotte Shaw. Mary Shaw's obituary indicated that only three of her children were living at the time of her death in 1895, Jesse, his sister Huldah and one child "east of the mountains" (the Rockies), likely one of Jesse Jr.'s sisters. We have also found that Jesse Jr. Was in Iowa in Red Oak county at the time of the 1870 census living and working as a day laborer. The first paper record that I have found of Jesse Shaw Sr. was his marriage to Mary Harris in Franklin County, IN in 1834. His probate record at death was in Rush County, IN in 1862 but I have found no actual death date or birth date for Jesse Sr.
