    1. Re: [SHAW] Ralph Shaw - Surry NC
    2. My 3rd great grandfather was William B. Shaw born in South Carolina on March 24, 1801. He married Jinnat "Jane" McCorkle born in South Carolina on Feb. 18. 1802. They migrated to Parke County, Indiana around 1830. The 1893 Portrait and Biographical Record of Montgomery, Parke, and Fountain Counties wrote that William B. Shaw's father was William Shaw of Irish descent and fought in the Revoluntionary War. I have yet, to actually find my William B. Shaw's parents or siblings. Not sure if we are from the same Shaw line, though. Just thought I might respond to your query, you just never know. -------------- Original message from lmt <[email protected]>: -------------- > I have a Ralph Shaw who was born in Surry NC 1785. 3. I see on Ken Linwood Shaw III's web site some information that is not an exact match but has similarities. There is no info given for parents of Ralph Shaw, so it is impossible from just what is given to determine if the two families are related. The Ralph info posted does seem to be an exact match, but no new info is given, other than a previous wife. Mary Carter's family is extended up two more generations though. Much info on this site is submitted by others, so all of it is not verified. But, operating under the theory that someone at one time was looking at something that made them think it so, and the geographical and name similarities to your people, I thought you may be able to pick up some additional clues there. This William B Shaw's family starts in NC not SC and winds up in Tippecanoe and Warren counties, which are near to Parke/Fountain/Montgomery. It says this John Shaw (grandfather to the William B Shaw listed there--there are two other William B Shaw's also on this tree, btw) was thought to be Irish or Scottish. There is some reference also to Revolutionary + Military Pension, but the dates do not seem to jibe with birth dates, though I could be looking at it wrong.
