His father was William (Sayles) Shaw who was born in NJ in 1752. Levi and Martha Metzler Shaw married in 1831 and had children: Almond, Samantha, Celilla, Velzer, Anna (Amy), Lanson, Freeman, Clinton, Milan and Sirenda (?). Several in the family moved to Kansas.
