    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: DavisJess Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.shaw/6625.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Not much just that Gaberiel's father might be Joseph Shaw b about 1715 and died about 1785 with his brother's being John Baptist Sr (my ancestor) b about 1745 d about 1815 Zacharia William b about 1735 d about 1800 Hugh Joseph Gabriels' grandfather might be John Shaw b about 1700 in PA, USA or Antri, Ulster, Ireland. Gabriel's great grandfather could have been either John or Joseph b about 1685 in Antri Ulster Ireland. There is a legend about the four Shaw brothers that I have heard about from my grandma and the person who gave me the info on Gabriel but so far neither has told me the story. Timothy Shaw, who first appears on a tax roll for Lunenburg County, Va. in 1750. By 1760's he is found living in Johnston County, N.C. in the portion which later became Wake County. He also states, that he has found many land dealing between Timothy and John Baptist Shaw, William Shaw, Zachariah Shaw, and Gabriel Shaw. In Fact, Timothy deeded land to Zachariah and William Shaw both on the same day in 1778. I wonder who Timothy Shaw is? Maybe he is an uncle or maybe not even related at all. For awhile I thought he might be John Baptist Sr's father but I also found other sources that said that his father was Joseph. I have come to the conclusion that Joseph Shaw is John Baptist Sr's father (and Gabriel if he is John's brother) because I have run into more places that says his father is John.
