    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: theshawclan1 Surnames: Shaw, Bagwell, Jones, Malone, Irwin, Fulcher, Hunt Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.shaw/6625.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Jess, Hope you're still looking for info on these Wake Cty, NC Shaws - I only get to these personal genealogy projects infrequently. I am a Mississippi Shaw descended from these lines. We've been trying to unravel the numerous brothers and/ or cousins as well as incorrect associations with Cape Fear Highlanders in North Carolina a long time. Some of John Baptist Shaw's children, Samuel Hugh Shaw and Aley Shaw Brasfield-Lynn, were "the cousins" living in Noxubee County, MS. There is alot of oral history such as the story of "The Four Brothers" and a couple of family history documents you'd be interested in seeing. We are also trying to get the Shaw DNA Project rolling in order to deconflict many of the multiple Shaw lines in VA, NC, SC as well as validate some of the oral stories which appear to be true. The DNA results were surprising and useful. We need more male participants for Y-DNA tracing. My Shaw, Bagwell, Jones, Malone, Irwin, Merrell, and other lines all lived close ! to one another on the Neuse River at Big Lick Creek after migrating from PA and VA. I went to the John Baptist Shaw Cemetery and Daniel Bagwell Cemetery in Wake and Durham Cty, NC as a teenager before the dam/ reservoir were built. I tried to go back to see the John Baptist Shaw Cemetery 2 years ago but the new owners have everything posted and Bagwell was moved - site under water now.
