Jesse A. Shaw was born in Ohio ~1810 and Mary Harris was born in Kentucky in 1813. They married in Franklin County Indiana in 1834. By 1850, they lived in Hancock County, Indiana and had children Charlotte F. (~1835), Benjamin F. (~1836), John R. (~1840), Mahala (~1843), Ruth A.(~1846), Phariby (~1848). In 1860, they were in Wisconsin with only children Hulda (1849) and Jesse A. Jr. (1855). When Mary died in Washington State in 1894, her survivers were listed as Hulda and Jesse and another child (un-named) east of the mountains (the rockies). Mary had reportedly lived with a child in Iowa on two different occasions. In 1916, Jesse Jr. had correspondence from a cousin, Sadie (no last name given) in Sanger, California. I do not have any verifiable connections to either Jesse Shaw or Mary Harris's families. There are family stories that Mary had relatives in Southeastern Washington when she moved there with her two youngest children in 1878.
