    3. It is possible he was a Delaware (Lenape) Indian, or associated with the tribe -- rather than the state of Delaware. The Delaware Tribe, native to the east, moved into Cherokee lands of Oklahoma right after the unCivil War. That would put them in northern Oklahoma, considerably closer to the Comanche territory (Texas and SE Oklahoma) of the same time period.
