    3. I'm afraid I can't help on your specific SHAWs, but you asked, "Why did my SHAWs go specifically to the Greenville (Hunt Co.), TX area?" Two possible reasons: 1 - It is on the migration path. Look at an old map; there were only a few places to cross the Mississippi River. From there follow the logical paths to Texas. One is along what is now Highway 82 and there are others just north and just south of it. I have driven those roads, and they are covered with historic markers telling of early settlers. 2 - The "biggie": cheap land and a chance to start over with little or no land. They couldn't declare bankruptcy then; they just moved away and left a sign on the door, "GTT (gone to Texas)". If they had a little money they could buy land for 50 cents an acre.
