Hi, Odell: My Solomon was from Ashe County, NC. Anyway, that's where I found him, and my Dad always told me that is where he was from. He moved to Texas later. He was married to Mariah Worley from Ashe County, and their children were: Julia A. Shaw,born 1858-59; my ggrandfather, Cornilious "Neal" Shaw born June 11, 1861, died December 5, 1911. Amanda Shaw, Samuel I. Shaw, Elizabeth Shaw, Doctor N. Shaw, Birtha Shaw, Mary Shaw, and Rosea E. Shaw. Cornilious married Phebe Ellen Steavens; Their children were: Alice M. Shaw, Lula Mae Shaw, My grandfather, Joseph Cyrus Shaw, Celia Shaw, and Elsie Shaw. Solomon's father's name was (I think) was Thomas Shaw. His mother I know for sure was Elizabeth Graybeal (other spellings have been seen). Solomon had siblings of John, Alfred, Doctor N., William (born 1921), Thomas, and Mary. That is just about all I know. I cannot find anything else about Thomas Shaw. I have lots of information about Elizabeth Graybeal except her marriage, other than she married a Shaw about 1819. If you have anything that might connect, I would surely appreciate it. I am beginning to think he landed here from another planet.
