Does any one on the list have any Shaw's from Maine? Mine are from Cumberland Co. Mostly Portland.
Do you have any names for your Shaws? Mine has said (at one point) that she was from Maine, but she has given other places of birth too, so I am proceeding cautiously. Hi: I descend from two Shaw lines (Roger and Abraham) and lived in Portland, but the Shaws were all on the distaff side of my family who married in Mass. and N.H. very early on. Those Shaws who are traced in the literature I am aware of are of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Noyes et al, in their Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire, lists a bunch of standalone Shaw men not connected to the Shaws of Mass. and NH: Andrew, Scarboro witness; Edward, likely a Duxbury man, was at one time at Blue Point; another Edward, a Kennebec soldier; Isaac, Scarboro, servant of John Jackson; John, a York witness; Peter, Scarboro, Spurwink; Richard, Scarboro; William, York. Admittedly, my research has been limited, because I was satisfied as to the early lineages which included my relatives. People of Cumberland Co. all fled to Massachusetts and other places during the second part of King Philip's war, some returning later, so you might have Roger or Abraham as an ancestor. 'Gene H.
