y point exactly. They still live on the same island, and white North Americans don't call them Hispanic, or even "French". I think when people see a brown face it's just convenient not to be interested in what country they're from, and lump them into "Hispanic" or "Latin". Kind of lazy, like seeing a brown face with another kind of features and calling them "Asian" (wow, a whole continent- could you be any LESS specific please?) or seeing a browner face with a certain hair texture and hearing an accent and calling a person "African"(that narrows it down doesn't it?) We don't see a non-Brown face and hear a French accent or a Cockney accent and call folk "European", now do we?
