Hi, I'm new to this site so I thought I should introduce myself. Both my grandfather's were named John Shaw. My mother's family can be traced back as far as James Shaw who emigrated to Huddersfield, Yorkshire about 1841. James is listed as being from Connaught, Ireland (probably County Mayo bordering Roscommon). He married Margaret Leyden from Roscommon. We have had difficulty establishing exactly where James came from. My father's family is probably from Leitrim. His father married Mary Maguire in New York. My father's grandfather was William Shaw and his mother was Susan White. I have lots of information about James' family who moved to the East Newark area when Margaret died (1880's?). James worked for Coats and Clark in England and the US. Some of the family remained in NJ and some moved to NY (my ggrandfather Patrick Shaw).
