First I wanted to share an interesting bit of information. Seems there is a project combining genealogical research with gene testing. Sounds intriguing. I hope someone can help me verify this information and get more details. Maybe someone will recognize this line. They were Presbyterians, so probably came to America to escape the persecution of Presbyterians and Catholics in Northern Ireland. FIRST GENERATION (going backwards) 1. William Shaw was born on 5 Feb 1758 in Killeleague Parish, Ulster, County Down, Ireland. He emigrated in 1772 from Guilford Co., NC from Killeleague Parish, County Down, Ireland. He died on 25 Aug 1842 in Lynchburg, Moore Co., TN. He served in the military fighting the Indians in 1775 - Amer. Rev. War 1776-1782 in NC, SC, VA. He was buried in Pioneer Cemetery (Moore Co.or Lynchburg TN?). Married Sarah Job(e) (b. 5 June 1766, Guilford Co., NC, d. 9 Nov 1847, Lynchburg, TN) on 24 May 1787 in Guilford Co., NC. Children: Elizabeth, b.1788; Joseph, Sr., b.1790; Sarah, b. 1791; Mary, b. 1793; William, Jr., b. 1795; Nancy, b. 1800; Margaret, b. 1802; Ann Jan b. 1804; Hugh b. 1806. SECOND GENERATION 2. Patrick Shaw was born on 18 Sep 1720 in Killileag Parish, Drumbo, County Down, Ireland. He was christened on 18 Sep 1720 in Presbyterian Church in Drumbo, County Down, North Ireland. He died on 11 Jan 1802 in Guilford Co., NC. He was married to Nancy Ashley in 1756 in Killileag Parish, Drumbo, County Down, Ireland. 3. Nancy Ashley was born about 1738 in Killileag Parish, Drumbo, County Down, Ireland. Patrick Shaw and Nancy Ashley had the following children: i. John Shaw was born in 1756. 1 ii. William Shaw. iii. Hugh Shaw was born in 1772 in County Down, Ireland. iv. Elizabeth Shaw was born on 14 Apr 1776. v. Polly Shaw. vi. Nancy Shaw. THIRD GENERATION 4. John ( Patrick?) Shaw Sr was born about 1700 in Northern Ireland. John ( Patrick?) Shaw Sr had the following children: i. Samuel Shaw was christened on 22 Jun 1721 in Presbyterian Church in Drumbo, County Down, North Ireland. He died on 11 Jan 1802 in Guilford Co., NC. 2 ii. Patrick Shaw. FOURTH GENERATION 8.
