Deborah, you've probably already looked, but I should ask again. The John Shaw who moved later to Clinton, ME, in the 1780's-'90's--was his wife's name Persis? I'm trying to find them. One of their sons was Warren Shaw, born 1808 in Johnstown, NY. Carole Deborah Mason wrote: > Ellen, > > Can you give me a direct line as far back as you can? Deborah & Carole: My John Shaw was b Abingdon, MA 1754, s/o John & Martha Studley Shaw. He, his parents, his brother Eliab, and sisters Elizabeth & Mary "Patty" Shaw all removed to Kennebec after the AmRev. I think there is a possibility that your John is s/o Eliab and his wife, Sarah Savage. If so, John b 31 May 1779 and Mary b 10 Aug 1783 are buried in Augusta, ME at Brackett Cemetery. Gravestones list his DOD as 3 Nov 1856 and hers as 27 Feb 1849. If you think this might be the right link, do let me know. The other towns don't ring any bells, but thought you might have some dates for John & Mary Bradley. Do you know anything about Mary's parents? I see lots of Bradleys in the MOCA CD, too. Regards, Ellen Deborah Mason wrote: > > Ellen, > > Can you give me a direct line as far back as you can? A John Shaw who > married Mary Bradley,
The dates are perfect for hatching a young un' in 1808. However, Warren's parents were John and Persis. I do know Warren was born in Johnstown, NY. I've never heard mention of Maine in family stories--it was always Connecticut. I'll file this away for safe keeping. You don't know the children of John and Martha? The timing would be right for them to have children in '74-80, and one of their children to have my Warren. I'll go to Kennebec and see what I can find. Thanks, Ellen.
