    3. Hi, Pauline, I know my aunt had researched my line back into Scotland. I was young and too into being a teenager to actually sit and get copies of all her work. Her daughter is going through her files now, and sorting it all out as she finds time. I do know that my aunt told us she found evidence that our family fought with William Wallace, and was deported around the reign of Charles I. It seems the Shaws were mixed up in the plot to depose him. I'll see if my cousin can find anything. Right now we are working together to try to identify pictures. It's a task, because she is in CA and I'm in Louisiana. She scans and emails, I try to identify and mail back. As soon as I find out what she has on the Shaws in Scotland, I'll post it. 3. I am a little weak in the history of Scotland; my Beall family were deported in the late 1600's, Keziah Beall married Charles Shaw. The 1776 census of Prince Georges Co., MD show them with two sons, ages one and two. One of them was Alexander born ca1776.- Betty Bower---- Original Message ----- From: Marci <cilcia@bellsouth.net> To: <SHAW-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 10, 2001 7:18 AM Subject: Re: [SHAW] Shaw families > Hi, Pauline, > > I know my aunt had researched my line back into Scotland. 3. Charles I is awfully early for American families to have been deported. Do you have any info on where they were deported to (this would have been about 1650)? More likely, they were involved in the Jacobite rebellions (1815 and 1845-46) and would have fought for (or against) Bonnie Prince Charley -- Charles Edward Stewart, pretender to the thone. The Shaws fought as a clan on the Jacobite side in 1815, and many were sold as indentured slaves to the new world. In 1845-46, the Shaws fought on both sides and many left soon after.
