    3. Yes, Betty, but he may have either been born after 1900 (his middle name must come from Teddy Roosevelt), or he lived with a family that was not on the Halifax County rolls in 1900. (I'm talking about John R., not the affluent Jesse L.) Plus part of Littleton is in Warren Co. I have found a Jack who is 15 in 1920 living w/ a maternal grandmother, and twoo other Shaw siblings. So I ordered the death certif. for a man named Shaw (their unlce)who adopted one of those kids, prob. after the maternal grandm. passed (she was 65 in 1920). -----Original Message----- From: Betty [mailto:bbb@tco.net] Sent: Tuesday, February 13, 2001 12:20 PM To: SHAW-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [SHAW] North Carolina Shaws Bijan; Have you checked the 1900 census? Also a delayed birth certificate could be somewhere. My father born in 1889 used the 1900 census and a cousin to swear he was 'that' person. He needed it for social security.
