Mike, I think you're right. I was a kid when my aunt told those stories. When you said Bonnie Prince Charlie, a bell rang in my head, so I called my dad. I also called my cousin, who is still digging through her mom 's stuff. She said that part of the family came here around1710 or so (my first Shaw born here was 1718). The brothers of that Shaw that came to America stayed and fought. It's those brothers and their descendants that I"m looking for info on. I'm sure my aunt had it in her file cabinet, and her daughter just has to find the time to locate it. I just wish that when she was doing all this research I wasn't so young and into everything else. I found it interesting ( I think I was about 12 or so) but so was baseball, boys, track, boys, lol I just wish I had donated more time to listening and studying our family history then. Thanks for your input!
