I am researching NC Shaw's, but my interest of late is Jesse L. Shaw, who owned most of Littleton, NC (Halifax and Warren Counties)in the late 19th Century. Also can anyone with access to all the John Shaw's isolate a John R Shaw (sometimes went by Jack Roosevelt Shaw)who was born in Littleton, NC shortly after 1898, worked in Philadelphia during the 1930's? NC didn't keep birth records until 1913 or so, which is a hindrance. Bijan, Probably no connection, but I have a Jesse Shaw b. 1832, son of John Jobe Shaw and Jane?. John Jobe was born 15 Feb 1808 in Guilford County, NC and married Jane ? abt 1831 in Lincoln Co., TN. Probably not the Jesse you were looking for, but someone else was asking about John Jobe, I believe. Bijan; Have you checked the 1900 census? Also a delayed birth certificate could be somewhere. My father born in 1889 used the 1900 census and a cousin to swear he was 'that' person. He needed it for social security.
