Yes, I would like to pursue it further. I almost missed James because I kept looking back toward NC whereas he had gone to Texas (his son -- my ggf -- married in Mississippi and stayed there). Later, my gf came to Texas and stayed in east Texas for a winter before going on to west Texas; I know now he was with his grandparents in east Texas. I hope that makes sense, it is not easy to explain. Now that I have contact with cousins in Mississippi, east Texas, west Texas, and NM, I'm learning that these guys went back and forth on what is now highway 84 fairly often. Horseback, wagon, and later by pickup truck! I don't have any Hugh's or Joseph's, but a lot of Benjamin's, Williams, and James's.
