I'm pretty well convinced that Benjamin SHAW, married to Rhoda COVEY, is the father of my James SHAW, b 27 Oct 1786 in Guilford County NC and d 7 Dec 1866 in Kaufman County, Texas. He married Catherine ELLIOTT in Virginia. Two GEDComs posted on the web show this, but I can't find primary sources posted on either. I'm looking for some verifiable references, as well as info on where he came from. The posted info says Benjamin and Rhoda had the following children (no dates given): James William Matthew Sarah Noble Rhoda Elizabeth Aaron John My James had several children and named one Robert Benjamin and another Rhoda. There has to be a connection here, Mike. I have a Hugh Shaw (b.1806 in Guilford Co., NC who died in 1886 in Kaufman Co., TX. His brother Joseph (My ancestor) went to AL, but one of his sons and at least one of his grandsons went to TX. Hugh and Joseph were the sons of William Shaw (1758 Ireland - 1842 TN) who lived in Guilford Co., NC starting in abt 1722 until (it is reported) after the Revolutionary War, when he moved to TN. The Benjamin F. that I reported earlier was the son of Joseph and brother to my ancestor. If you want more details, let me know.
