>From the Citrus County Chronicle Friday 26 January 2001 Lucy Bates Shaw of Dixon, Ill. Lucy Bates Shaw, of Dixon, Ill., died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital. She was born in Lancaster, Ky., the daughter of Marshall Kavanaugh and Elizabeth Morgan (Hudson) Denny. She married Benjamin Eustace Douglas Shaw on June 12, 1934, in Lancaster. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1993. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Dixon, The Service Club, Phidian Art Club, Infant Welfare League of Oak Park, Ill., was past PTO president and served on the Dixon Public Schools property committee. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Mable George; two granddaughters, Anne Ellabeth Collins, Elizabeth Hudson Shaw; one brother, Waller Sam Denney; and two sisters, Shirley Hudson Taliaferro and Alice Franklin Mower. Survivors include two sons, Benjamin Denny Shaw of Wickenburg, Ariz., Thomas Douglas Shaw of Dixon, Ill.; three daughters, Ellabeth Collins of Dixon, Ill., Lucy Bates LeFevre of Grand Detour, Ill., Libby Morgan Moss of Lake Forest, Ill.; one brother, Captain James Beattie Denny of Virginia Beach, Va.; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
