Bowler (copyright 1903, published 1904), dedicated to her brother, Eben Shaw Kilborn, who furnished the funds for the publication. I ROGER SHAW [possibly son of RALPH SHAW, Vintnor at the Sunne, on Cornhill](p. 17),b. 8/261594; christened Sun. 9/1/1594 Cornhill, England; died 5/29/1661 (pb:) Hampton, NH; m. (1) Ann ___, m. (2) Susanna ____, wd. of William Tilton (d. 1/28/1655) of Lynn, MA. All children are by (1) Ann: 1. MARGARET SHAW c1634 - 4/15/1704 m. THOMAS WARD of Hampton, settled on a farm near Hampton Falls, in hands of descendants (1904). Children: Elizabeth Ward 12/10/1651 – 5/20/1697, m. 7/11/1672 John Mason, deputy Marshall of Hampton 1684; Mary Ward 1653 – 11/14/1731 Hampton, m. John Dearborn, Hannah Ward 12/29/1655; Thomas Ward 1/3/1666 – 3/15/1743 m. Sarah (surname unknown). 2. JOSEPH SHAW 1635 - 11//8/1720, m. 6/26/1661 ELIZABETH PARTRIDGE, d/o William Partridge of Salisbury, MA, settled "the Falls side"; now Hampton Falls, NH. Children: Abiah Oct. 1662 – 1739 m. Thomas Brown; Elizabeth 8/23/1664 m. aaron Sleeper of Shaw’s Hill, Hampton, had 11 children before moving to Kingston; Deacon Samuel 8/23/1666 m. (1) Esther Batchelder, m. (2) Mary Tuck; a son born 12/11/1669, pb died young; Caleb 1/21/1671 – 3/19/1715 (drowned Hampton Harbor) married Elizabeth Hilliard, dau. of Timothy Hilliard; Josiah 1/13/1673 6/10/1700 m. 5/31/1700 Meribah Page, dau of Francis Page – Josiah served in King William’s War and while running a race, his horse flung him against a log fence on June 10th and died 10 days after his marriage. (3) 1721 Benjamin Sanborn]; Sarah b. 12/5/1676; John Shaw b. 1678-1679, no further record; Ann 10/20/1681 m. 11/17/1701 Moses Elkins, Deacon of the Congregational church in Kingston, NH. He died suddenly in Exeter, NH 5/10/1737, had 11 children, 3 baptized in Hampton. 3. ANN SHAW, pb Cambridge, MA c1636 [dup. 1636] - 1661 [dup. 1662]m. SAMUEL FOGG, died 4/16/1672, a soldier in King William’s War and much honored as a townsman, who came to Hampton (formerly known as Winnacunnet) soon after its settlement (Hampton authorized by General Court in 1638, incorporated 1639, Roger Shaw being one of petitioners, who bought land in 1640, obtained a grant November 15, 1647 from Charles II of Great Britain, moved to Hampton in 1648, selling his land in Cambridge – 1st record of Roger was in Cambridge 1636; was a man of prominence in Hampton). Children: Samuel Fogg, Jr. 12/25/1653 – 1760, aged 107 years, married Hannah Marston, d/o Capt. William Marston, and resided in Hampton; Joseph 3/25/1656 – 4/17/1660; John 7/15/1658 0 4/21/1660; Daniel Fogg 4/16/1660 – 1755 aged 95 years, m. Hannah “Ann” Libby, who died 1662. Daniel was a blacksmith in Scarboro, Maine, at breaking up of that settlement in 1690, the family moved to Portsmouth, NH, and 10 years later to Kittery, ME (Farwell, p. 25: now Eliot, ME; Eliot is NW of present-day Kittery, ME); Mary Fogg born 5/1/1662. Samuel Fogg, Sr. (after 1661/1662) married (2) Mary Page, d/o Robert Page, and had three other children. 4. ESTHER SHAW born Cambridge June 1638 - no record of marriage or death. 5. 5. MARY SHAW, Cambridge, MA 11/26/1939 - Jan./Feb. 1640 Cambridge 6. BENJAMIN SHAW, Cambridge, MA 1641 - 1717 m. 5/25/1663 ESTHER RICHARDSON, died 5/16/1736, aged 96 years, d/o Ezekiel and Susannah Richardson. He lived on his father’s farm, but was also a merchant and blacksmith. His account book is still in existence (1904). Benjamin’s will dated 12/26/1717, mentions 5 sons & 6 daus. His widow, Esther was generously remembered in his will, and lived on the homestead with her son, Edward, the two being named executors of the instrument. Children: Mary 12/2/1664; Esther 11/16/1666 –3/25/1739 married Jabez Dow; Sarah 6/22/1669 – 4/10/1756 m. Seth Fogg; Abigail 8/22/1671 m. John Smith; Ruth 12/24/1673-4/13/1715, died unmarried; Benjamin 6/28/1676 m. Deborah Fellows; Roger 9/23/1678-10/129/1752 m. Alice Rawlins; Joseph 11/1/1681 m. Hannah Johnson; Edward 7/23/1685-1685 (inscription on gravestone legible in 1892); Edward 1687 m. (1) Mary Johnson, m. (2) Abigail Marshall; John, birth date unknown, died after 1717 (father’s death); Hannah 7/23/1660-8/9/1755 m. 1/31/1712 John Wedgewood and resided in North Hampton 7. MARY SHAW, b. Cambridge 7/29/1645 m. THOMAS PARKER, JR. (it is believed his mother is Judith Parker of Hampton 1640. Thomas was a shoemaker and practised trade in Hampton, NH 1663; removed to Reading, MA; children: Samuel, Sarah, Deborah, Abigail, Ruth and Elizabeth (no dates known). 8. DELIVERANCE SHAW (no birth record found); according to Savage, married 1669 at Kittery, ME, ABRAHAM TILTON, pb son of William and Susanna (nee?) Tilton (2d wife of Roger Shaw). Deliverance's will 11/9/1730, probated 7/2/1733 names sons, Abraham, Samuel and Isaac, daughters, Sarah Martin; Mary, widow of tristram Brown; and Rebecca, widow of Thomas Durges. First kinsmen, John Lamb, and Abigail, widow of John Bell. Hope this helps some of you.
